Facet Joint Injections
Facet joint injections are also similarly used like medial branch nerve blocks but more definitive as a treatment modality. In some patients who have arthritic changes of facet joints in the spine, there is an inflammatory process that occurs. By injecting the facet joint directly, we can apply local anesthetics and steroids to that area to actually calm the pain down so that you don’t have pain for several months. It varies from patient to patient, some patients a month, some patients even up to a year. It’s just unpredictable; it has to do with how progressive the disease process is, or the pathology, for each individual patient.
