Botox Injections
Botox injections in terms of the world of pain management is a little bit different than that that our plastic surgery colleagues use. We are using them primarily to treat either atypical spasms or dystonias in the body that aren’t corrected by normal interventions or medications. We can also use Botox in the head and neck region to treat migraine headaches. There is a very definitive map that we use that can treat all of the muscles involved, and this can be done right in the clinic without sedation for the patient. We additionally use a motor end-plate potential, which is a little bit different than our plastic surgery colleagues use, to really identify the muscles that we are trying to target.
