Superior Hypogastric Plexus Nerve Block
Superior hypogastric plexus nerve block is very similar to the celiac plexus block. This is done actually lower down and usually is used to treat pelvic pain. So if there is some sort of pelvic pain that the OB-GYN is unable to identify, or maybe pelvic pain that is chronic after having a surgery or some other problem, including cancer, this is a very effective block at alleviating that pain. Again, like the celiac plexus block, we can use local anesthetic, but we can also use alcohol to ablate the nerves in the same region.
