Cervical Epidural Steriod injections

Cervical radiculopathy, or pinched nerves in the neck, can often be treated with an epidural steroid injection. We usually use what’s called a translaminar approach with catheter guidance. Again, we choose a translaminar approach because it’s safer to use than a transforaminal approach. Unlike the back, the neck also has blood vessels that course very near the openings in our cervical spines, so it’s safer and much easier to go midline, which is called a translaminar approach, so that we can apply the same local anesthetic and steroids to nerve root compressions or disc herniations to alleviate pain.
